NOVEMBER

NOVEMBER HAS ARRIVED. TREES ARE FULL OF COLOR WHICH IS DRIFTING TO OUR YARDS. RAKING SEASON IS UPON US. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN A COVID-19-SAFE TRICK-OR-TREAT NIGHT. CHILDREN WERE WEARING GREAT COSTUMES AND HAVING FUN AND WERE ALL VERY GRATEFUL TO THOSE WHO SET CANDY OUTSIDE FOR THEM IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT.

SEEING ALL THE CHILDREN TRICK-OR-TREATING WAS A GOOD REMINDER OF HOW MANY CHILDREN LIVE IN HARRODS VIEW AND THAT WE ALL NEED TO WATCH OUR SPEED WHEN DRIVING OUR VEHICLES IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. IF YOU ARE FLYING DOWN SALLEE AT 35 OR 40 OR 45 MPH OR FASTER, YOU ARE SAVING A SECOND OR TWO. IS THE RISK WORTH THAT?

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME HAS ENDED AND IT IS GETTING DARK EARLIER. LET’S BE VIGILANT FOR ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. LET A BOARD MEMBER KNOW IF YOU  ARE AWARE OF ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS. PLEASE KEEP VEHICLES LOCKED IF YOU PARK ON THE STREET  OR IN YOUR DRIVEWAY. THERE IS AN UPTICK IN VEHICLE BREAKINS IN LEXINGTON. LET’S KEEP HARRODS VIEW A SAFE PLACE TO LIVE.

DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, LET’S REMEMBER OUR NEIGHBORHOOD RETAILERS AND RESTAURANTS. ALMOST EVERYONE IS OFFERING SOME CARRY-OUT SERVICES.

NOVEMBER 3, TUESDAY, ELECTION DAY. If you have not voted, you can vote from 6 am to 6 pm at the Beaumont Branch Library.

POLITICAL YARD SIGNS cannot be recycled. Do not put them in recycle bins. The Lexington Division of Environmental Services will repurpose signs for use in the Safe Streets initiative. You can drop your yard signs off at John’s Run/Walk Shop in the  Palomar Center.

NOVEMBER 6 AND 7, BREEDERS CUP.  Fans are not allowed to this world class event at Keeneland due to the pandemic, but there are ways to follow the action. You can download the free app for live streaming. You can also go to Breederscup.com for all livestreams, including morning workouts.

NOVEMBER 11, WEDNESDAY, VETERANS DAY. We thank all military veterans who have served in the U. S. Armed Forces.

NOVEMBER 14, SATURDAY, INTRODUCTION TO FIREBUILDING. Find out all you need to know at 9 a.m.  at McConnell Springs. Preregistration is requested. 859-225-4073.

NOVEMBER 26, THURSDAY, THANKSGIVING DAY. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in Harrods View. It will be different this year due to the pandemic, but we can all find ways to give thanks with family and friends for being family and friends.

NOVEMBER 27, FRIDAY, BLACK FRIDAY HIKE. Come to McConnell Springs at 2 p.m. for a post-Thanksgiving hike with family and friends.

AS THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC CONTINUES, PLEASE FOLLOW COVID 19 RULES AND KEEP 6 FEET BETWEEN YOU AND PERSONS WHO ARE NOT FAMILY MEMBERS WHEN OUT WALKING OUR SIDEWALKS AND CONVERSING WITH NEIGHBORS. PLEASE OBSERVE OUR POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 25 MPH AS MORE PEOPLE ARE OUT WALKING, JOGGING, AND BICYCLING. IT TAKES A SPLIT SECOND FOR A CHILD TO DART OFF OF A SIDEWALK INTO THE STREET. PLEASE SLOW DOWN WHEN DRIVING IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD.

It is always good to remind ourselves of our neighborhood deed restrictions. You can find them by clicking Governing Documents on this website. You will also find under Governing Documents some of Lexington’s ordinances that cover noise, parking on the street, and street tree maintenance. Respect the rights of your neighbors to the  peaceful enjoyment of their properties by complying with our deed restrictions and local ordinances.
